Spicy Chai Latte

Spicy Chai Latte

A rich chai latte that’s simple to make, better than anything you’ll find in a café (and lower in sugar too).

Ready in 10 minutes

Serves 2

  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 1 tbsp maple syrup
  • ¼ tsp ground cinnamon
  • ¼ tsp ground ginger
  • 1/8 tsp ground cardamom
  • 1 black teabag
  • 2 tbsp Whaiora Gold
  • ¼ tsp ground cinnamon, to garnish

Soak 1 black teabag in 1 cup of boiling water and leave to seep for 3 minutes. Remove teabag and set the tea aside to cool. Once cooled pour the tea into a blender along with the milk, maple syrup, cinnamon, ginger, cardamom and Whaiora Gold powder, blend for 30 seconds until smooth. Pour mixture into a large pot and simmer for 5 minutes while whisking to make the mixture smooth and frothy. Pour into a mug and serve sprinkled with cinnamon.

Tip: To save time you can prepare the tea earlier and store it in the fridge so it is ready to blend straight away.
